Steiff a German teddy company opened up a shop in 110 Nguyen Hue, opposite of Rex Hotels main entrance. Steiff makes upper end and price teddy bears, but also other animals, their trademark is the pin in their ear “knopf im Ohr” and the little flap with the slogan and logo on it. the shop seems relatively small but features a wide variety of products.

Newly opening in 87 Mac thi Buoi street, District 1 is (as far as I know) the first official Body shop in Vietnam (or at least Saigon, correct me if i’m wrong) they will have all their usual stuff on sale. Right now the shop isn’t finished yet, but a giant poster is advertising it’s presence ( photo above is proof) No word yet on when it is opening, but the sign looks official and I’m sure all the ladies are exited about the long awaited arrival of the body shop in Saigon.

Looking for a new place to eat out or have a drink in Saigon? Well if you want to be refused service and be treated rudely by the intoxicated manager, I suggest you try out Phattys in 40 ton that thiep street. Come in and spot a few mates that you know, go over and say hi and then retreat to the bar (by yourself)! and order a nice cold beer, chances are that you then get to have a nice chat with the manager who will inform you that your “group” is no longer being served, upon informing him that your “group” is the single person that he is talking to he will act irritated and tell you to not get aggressive, I then proceeded in asking him why I am not being served while showing him my German national ID in case he was concerned that I do not meet the age requirement (although this is a formality as I have seen 15 year olds getting served spirits in there before), the answer to my surprise was that they have “stopped” serving alcohol (firstly, what does a Bar do if they don’t serve alcohol (at 10pm)? and Secondly as these words came out of his mouth the guy next to me was being handed a new draft beer.) After another five minutes which included the sentece : I am the manager here I can do what ever the f**k I please to do (Nice management you see, customer is really king here) I decided to pack it in and left. In future i’ll take my money some place else to enjoy a drink, I suggest you do the same.
